Yesterday was our first Farm Day at Cowhorn. Folks come out to pick asparagus and stayed for a nice lunch featuring many local products. Thanks to all for a great day!

Cheddar-Almond Sandwich Recipe

Cheddar-almond sandwiches are a popular recipe here at Cowhorn, and the sauce, made of toasted almonds, roasted garlic and some asparagus bits is key. Bill and Barb make these more than once each season. Last night I used the Vegetarian Times recipe which calls for 1 ½ lbs asparagus, 2 cup almonds and 1 ½ cups of cheddar cheese among other ingredients to serve 3 people. I actually made these with hazel nuts since I didn’t have almonds. I think the sandwich also compliments our 2011 Cowhorn Viognier!
